Built by someone who made the move
The founder of SoloShift spent years as an independent technology contractor and found no good tool for making that transition with confidence. SoloShift is the tool they wanted.
In 10+ years of contracting in the UK, Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands, across data engineering, analytics and platform roles, the founder kept meeting the same people: capable professionals who were ready to go independent but did not know it.
What held them back was rarely skill. It was the practical knowledge nobody passes on: how to write a contractor CV, what IR35 means in practice, how much runway you need, why a LinkedIn profile brings in work or doesn’t, and what day rate to charge.
Most people learn this the hard way. SoloShift exists so they don’t have to.
Today SoloShift has two products. Shift Into Data helps people move into a data role from another field. Go Independent helps experienced technology professionals move into contract, consulting or freelance work.

- Tax rules in Germany differ from the UK. A data engineer’s route to independence differs from a project manager’s. SoloShift treats them differently.

How we handle your data
We don’t sell your assessment data. To generate AI features such as your roadmap, the relevant answers are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes them on our behalf.
We use service providers to run SoloShift, under agreements that require them to protect your data and use it only on our instructions. How Anthropic and our other providers retain data is governed by those agreements and their terms; we don’t promise that a provider never retains or trains on data.
If you delete your account, your assessment data is deleted with it, apart from any records we are legally required to keep. The privacy policy has the full details.
